Royal Spine Surgery is a spine surgeon in Scottsdale, AZ, led by Dr. Mohamed M. Abdulhamid, a neurosurgeon who specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery. Your care starts with a comprehensive assessment of your spine and your overall well-being. We then build a plan around your diagnosis and your goals, using non-surgical care, surgery or both.
Our office is on E Bell Rd in Scottsdale, and patients travel to see Dr. Abdulhamid from Phoenix and across the Valley.
Your spine protects your spinal cord and nerves, anchors your muscles and supports your posture and movement. When something goes wrong, it can cause pain, numbness, weakness or trouble walking, and the source isn't always obvious. Our 5D-Spine™ program looks at five areas: a clinical and physical exam, a review of your imaging, your pain and function, your body composition, and how you move.
A condition where the gel-like material inside a spinal disc is pushed out through a crack or fissure.

Narrowing of the spinal canal that can compress and put pressure on the spinal cord and nerves.

A condition where a spinal nerve root is compressed, leading to pain, numbness, or weakness in the affected area.

A neurological disorder caused by compression of the spinal cord resulting in numbness in the hands, difficulty with coordination and balance, and bladder dysfunction.

A condition where the sciatic nerve, which runs from the lower back to the leg, is compressed or irritated.

Our goal is to give you honest answers and clear options, both surgical and non-surgical, so you can make an informed decision. Many spine conditions are treated without surgery first. Most herniated discs, for example, improve with conservative care such as physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medication or epidural steroid injections. Surgery is typically considered when symptoms persist after six to twelve weeks of that care.
Already been told you need an operation? You can see Dr. Abdulhamid for a second opinion. He reviews your symptoms, neurological exam, imaging and past treatment, then explains whether surgery is necessary and which approach fits your case.
Alongside surgery, Dr. Abdulhamid offers non-invasive programs focused on strength, function and well-being. They can be part of a non-surgical plan or support your recovery after an operation. Results vary from person to person, and we'll tell you at your consultation which programs suit your situation.
A personalized functional wellness plan that may include nutritional guidance, lifestyle adjustments and stress management techniques.
An FDA-cleared, non-invasive treatment designed to improve mood, focus and mental clarity, offered through our Mind and Body Connections program.
Emsculpt NEO is a non-invasive muscle-strengthening treatment, about 30 minutes per session, used to build the core muscles that support your spine and posture.
When surgery is the right step, Dr. Abdulhamid uses approaches designed to limit disruption to the muscles and tissue around your spine. The procedure he recommends depends on your diagnosis, imaging and anatomy. Before you decide, he explains each option, including what recovery involves and the risks that come with any spine surgery.
MicroTube™ Spine Surgery uses a tubular retractor to reach the spine through a small surgical corridor, with less tissue disruption than traditional open surgery. It may be used for microdiscectomy, laminectomy and other decompression procedures.
Cervical disc arthroplasty replaces a damaged disc in the neck with an artificial disc that preserves motion at that level. For appropriately selected patients, it's an alternative to spinal fusion.
Minimally invasive fusion surgery uses small incisions and specialized instruments to stabilize the spine. It may be recommended for spinal instability, spondylolisthesis or degenerative disc disease, or when decompression alone isn't enough.
SpineVive™/BodyVive™ is a non-surgical program of 30-minute sessions that targets muscle health and body composition to support spine function, mobility and recovery.
Recovery looks different for every patient and every procedure. Dr. Abdulhamid gives you individual instructions for activity, incision care and medication, and you return to work, driving and exercise gradually as you're cleared. Follow-up visits let him monitor your healing, and your plan may include SpineVive™/BodyVive™ or functional wellness to help you rebuild strength.
